Your Tulsa Zoo is in the midst of the most transformative phase in our history. William S. Smith African Wilds exhibit complex, currently under construction, spans more than 7 acres and is designed to transport our guests on an African savanna adventure and foster a passion for animal conservation. African species, such as lions, meerkats, zebras, vultures, Diana monkey, and pygmy hippos will call Tulsa their new home. We are also adding our first-ever dedicated, at-exhibit classroom and much needed guest amenities. We estimate our yearly attendance to grow to more than 800,000 annually and our education encounters to reach 400,000 when African Wilds opens Fall 2027, in time for our centennial celebration.
